In this mode you progress through levels with limited number of lives and a timer counting down. The second game mode is called “Progressiv”. You hold your ground against hordes of enemies until you run out of enemies or die. you also got your basic horde mode in “Stronghold”.
i have no idea how many currently are playing this and chances are that will not change anytime soon due to this being a title not many people have heard about. There is an online part of the game but i have not had a chance to test it out simply because no sessions could be found. The replay value of this game is, at least at the moment, very limited. The menus are ok and changing weapons or using your abilities can be a little tedious but works ok. The controls feels a little off, but for its time it was snappy had a good feeling to it, surprisingly good actually for such an old game, not the precision you get in games today, but still good enough. If you want to play with your friends the game features co op and versus play for a maximum of four players. In addition there are also heavy machine guns, cannons and mortars spread across the levels to take out drop ships and heavy enemies. A good assortment of grenades and explosive devices makes sure you never run out of ways to kill the enemy. You can also craft everything you need from adding Bagman to your backpack and Helm opens door and hacks computers. Like the holographic decoy you can distract enemies with or the handy auto aiming that Gunnar provides. Rogue’s abilities are varied and fun to use with many different and unusual ideas that work really well in the game. The game has a fairly good cover system and that is pretty much a must have in today’s titles. The game play is one of the redeeming qualities of this game. But to be fair this was not that bad when it released 12 years ago. The design of the world and color setting is very dull and gray with a lot of brown colors that does little to encourage exploration of the levels. With being used to the standards of today this gets annoying very fast. The game is 12 years old and this shows in the graphics but is now remastered and comes in high definition this time, but the details and animations are still very old and is not very nice to look at. Rogue goes on alone to get revenge over his fallen buddies as the same time they are helping him progress through the missions with their added abilities.It’s a pretty cool concept and was groundbreaking at the time. The story is pretty vague but you start the game fighting alongside your fellow blue squad mates and under the starting missions you lose some of those key comrades but each time you gain their special ability by inserting their bio chip in to your own arsenal. You play as Rogue who is a GI: Genetic Infantryman, a weird looking blue guy running around bare chested and genetically manipulated to withstand the harsh conditions on Nu-Earth caused by the many decades of war. He lives in a world called Nu-Earth and fights in a long lasting war between the Norts and Southers. The game is based of a 80s comic character called Rogue. Rogue Trooper was released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 2 and Xbox on 21, April 2006. Like many other popular titles from back in the day this game was maybe not so well known, at least I had never played or even heard of it before I got asked to review it this week. The last couple of days I have been playing an old game in a new skin.
